Global safety and Survival Technology solutions supplier Survitec has received a UK Government Gold Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) for its “outstanding support” to the country’s armed forces.
Survitec, one of 156 UK companies to have been awarded this year’s highest badge of honour, was recognised as a business that employs and supports serving members and veterans of the UK armed forces and their families.
To be considered for the prestigious award, defence industry suppliers must hold a valid Silver Award certificate and have signed the UK’s defence industry covenant. They must also demonstrate support for reservists, assist in their mobilisation, and provide at least 10 additional days paid leave for training.
Ron Krisanda, Executive Chairman, Survitec, said: “We are immensely proud to have achieved the Gold Award in recognition of the work we do to harnesses the talents of military personnel across the organisation. With their advanced training and highly transferable skills military personnel make an invaluable contribution to our business. We will build on this achievement and continue in our commitment to supporting and working with the armed forces community.
“In addition to this UK award, we continue to work with organisations all over the world to support service personnel. We’d like to send a heartfelt thank you to our colleagues who have and those who are still currently serving their countries,” concluded Krisanda.
Survitec recognition was granted for advocating the benefit of recruiting from the Armed Forces community across industry from suppliers to customers encouraging them to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant and engage in their Employer Recognition Scheme. The business developed relationships with Royal Tank and Mercian Regiments alongside a desire to partner and support Sea Cadets.
In addition, Survitec recruited a Veteran & Armed Forces Champion, committed to establishing an Armed Forces Network and designed and implemented a Reserve Forces Training and Mobilisation Policy.
The Employer Recognition Scheme Awards, now in its ninth year, continues to grow in strength and stature, with a current total of 643 Gold Award holders.
Survitec has a long and successful history supplying critical safety and survival equipment to the UK’s naval, maritime and aviation sector, beginning with the introduction of the world’s first inflatable liferaft in 1932. This was followed by additional world firsts including the first submarine escape suit in 1954 and the first marine evacuation system in 1979.
This legacy of innovation continues with Survitec’s most recent introduction being a smaller and lighter single seat liferaft. The Micro SSLR is designed to better equip military fast jet pilots on more challenging missions or when forced to eject from their aircraft over water.
